    ANNUAL ILI SYMPOSIUM

    Every October, since 2010, ILI holds the Indigenous Language Institute Symposium (ILIS) in New Mexico that invites presenters to address topics of interest to language practitioners. The topics selected are concerns, challenges, and interests of community language workers as issues that need discussion and exploration to help advance language work. ILI invites presenters to share personal and professional experiences, academic research, and success stories that address the topics. The goal of each symposium is to provide participants with different ideas and practical solutions to the challenges addressed.

    12th annual ILIs 2024 Information

    Date: October 23-25, 2024

    Theme: Instructions for Connecting All Ages to Develop Language Use in Daily Life

    Description: The indigenous language movement in North America requires a shift in emphasis on how and what we instruct in our language classes. Our Learners must be able to express themselves in the Language, and the end goal is being able to think in the Language. Presenters are selected to showcase some steps toward this important goal.
